Blue Box sponsorship
In February 2009 Silver Gleaming Sound Machine is in the ”blue zone”. The band has just received the Bandbase/Sennheiser music sponsorship “the blue box”. The box which contains 24 quality microphones will be used for the recording of our next EP – and is a welcome addition to our process.
The microphones will hopefully help express and underscore the colour and sound of our music – helping us guide our new tunes through the SGSM electronic circuitry consisting of sampler, drum machines and effect pedals.
In particular the encounter of acoustic (guitar, drums and bass) and electronic (synths, sampler, drum machine) instruments seem to present a challenge when recording, but one that with a bit good fortune will bring about an interesting overall sound. For example we will be aiming at achieving a natural coherent raw drum sound that still needs to communicate with the more dry and synthetic drum machines. We are also trying to bend our analogue synths into a more acoustic sound space by playing and recording them through old tube amps. These are just a few examples of our approach to recording and areas where the microphones will be put into creative use.
